Cheers To Our Volunteers!
Happy Volunteers Week to our vibrant volunteers.
Without them we wouldn’t be able to run our writing labs, open our monstrous shop or bring our exciting writing projects to schools. They support our small team every day to make sure we can keep helping young people in Hackney, Islington and Tower Hamlets to keep writing a brighter future. So thank you to our strong, kind, funny, interesting and generous team of volunteers. Here’s what our year together has looked like in numbers:
-
3,100 hours of time given by our amazing volunteers
-
50 hours spent searching for our Invisible cat Wells
-
500 Monster Writing Kits built
-
450 boxes of breadsticks devoured by young writers
-
2,079 young people supported to bring their stories to life
“It’s been great to come together on a weekly basis and feel like you’re doing something good, meaningful and making a difference, however small to the young people’s confidence”. – Abby
“Seeing the young writers’ creativity makes me more creative!” – Emma
“I’ve been volunteering for almost 10 years on Ministry of Stories’ incredible Speak Up programme, and without fail, I witness young participants go on a journey from “I can’t do this,” to “I can’t believe I did that!'” – Steven
